The pure joy that is available through working on group natural building projects, the joy of walking barefoot on the earth, the joy of planting/nurturing a peach tree and taking a bite of that first delicious fruit when it arrives, the joy of harvesting rainwater, the joy of connecting and sharing with the beautiful animals that inhabit this planet.
A byproduct of embarking on endeavors like this is that through it, we are regaining our independence. Through following these types of simple joys and excitements provided by our planet and our communities, we are reconnecting and reducing our reliance on government and big business.
You don’t have to go to the food store nearly as much if you have a food forest/garden. You don’t have to go to Target as much because your friend is a builder. You don’t have to drive as much because you start to realize most of what you need/want is all around you.
I have confidence that humans are realizing more and more that if they are harming the planet they are essentially harming themselves. Just as when humans are connecting with and nurturing the planet, they are essentially healing themselves."
